Yoma James Kukor shares his entrepreneurship experience

Yoma James Kukor is a successful entrepreneur, investor and author. He founded the business James Beam Capital and has investments in more than 50 companies. He wrote the book “The Everyday Investor” and is currently working to set up his own venture capital fund. We interviewed him and asked him a few questions as listed below.

Yoma, tell me a bit about yourself?

I am entrepreneur, investor and author. I founded my business James Beam Capital in 2015 and it has grown significantly over the past few years. We have served more than 1000 customers in 20 different countries. We provide consultation services on finances and business growth to our clients. Our business services a customer base for both business clients and individuals. I have an extensive background in online shipping and the shopping industry, having run multiple e-commerce stores over the years. I also have a passion for investing.

As of 2019, I have invested in more than 50 companies throughout the world both public and private. My two most successful investments today are in Monzo and Revolut. I was lucky enough to get into both companies during their first major investment rounds. I turned this passion into a book called “The Everyday Investor” which has sold more than 1000 copies globally.

How do you organise your time?

For the most part, I organise my team with my dear digital friend Alexa. I typically wake up at 6am Monday to Saturday. I have an office in my house, so for the most part, I spend about 14 hours a day working on all my business ventures and brands which usually takes me to 8pm each day. I then do a quick 1 hour 30 min work out session before capping my night off with a bit of inspirational reading.

What do you think is your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is the ability to visualise where the world is going, hence why I have been so invested in fintech, cleantech & healthtech in the last couple of years. This has dramatically increased my net worth recently. Even with the remote staff I hire, I try to encourage them as much as possible to think more about tomorrow instead of worrying too much about the past and the present.

What are the three books that changed your life and why?

The 3 books that change my life are in no particular order:

  • The intelligent investor by Benjamin Graham.
  • Sam Walton Made in America by Sam Walton with John Henry.
  • Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

You also wrote “The Everyday Investor”, could you tell us more about it?

Yes, so in 2019 I published my debut book “The Everyday Investor.” The book sort of explains the story about how anyone can get started with investing with as little as £100. The investment game is all about being consistent for multiple years, sticking to an investment like attitude like the one Warren Buffett has and shying away from the quick money schemes propped up by the Forex Traders and Speculators. The book is available on Amazon.com and Jamesbeamcapital.com.

What about James Beam Capital? How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

The idea of the business stems from frequent requests I would get on social media about people looking for ways to start improving their finances but did not know where to start. That’s when I said to myself that as long as people will make money from my services, they will pay for them too. I did a few trial runs with a few clients, got their feedback and chipped on the edges till I got a viable service I could sell at ease to my clients. Since 2018 it has been a breeze thanks to social media, and we have served more than 1000 clients in 20 different countries. All in all we have created more than £500,000 in economic wealth for our clients, which tells you everything about our services.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In the next 5 years I see myself setting up my own Venture Capital fund to help minority entrepreneurs get their tech businesses of the ground. I see myself doing more charity work too. I’m very passionate about finding a way to eradicate homelessness. I know that I can’t change it myself but that doesn’t give me the right to sit here and do nothing. So, I will definitely set up my own charity to help eradicate this stain our society. I also see myself releasing a new book each year to help individuals with anything in the business field.

What are you most excited about at the moment?

I am excited to see new technologies each day and we believe that we can integrate Artificial Intelligence in the near future to boost our network at a global scale more rapidly. Technologies like AI and blockchain have shown us the way into the future and I think technology is not only the key to our problems, but also a solution to every issue. We are shifting trends and leading people into the future by bringing them out of the traditional or conventional practices and introducing them to the modern tools and techniques.
