Charles Herisson is the CEO of Betadvisor, a well-respected company that provides comprehensive advice about sports betting. Their team provides tailored support across a wide variety of sports, including Football, Horse Racing, Cricket, Rugby, Tennis, Basketball, and American Football. The company was created back in 2010 in Paris, and during that time, Betadvisor has gone from strength to strength. The Betadvisor team is highly diverse and talented, committed to their passion and love for sports.
Charles was able to answer a few of our questions about his company.
Can you give us a basic introduction to yourself, Charles? Your journey and how you got into the betting space.
I have always had a passion for sport, mathematics, and sports betting. Since I was a child, I’ve been completing statistical analysis on the performance of football teams and football players. I was a young football tipster. At the age of 14, I was lucky enough to win a big jackpot at the pools, and from there, I started to invest the money I earned to make sport betting arbitrages between the odds of different bookmakers. I stopped my passion for sports betting when I founded my first Telecommunication company at 23 years old. Bets, like business activities, are severe and require time and dedication. I resumed my passion for sports betting only after selling my company when we had more than 100 employees and ten branches. From that moment, I decided to make my passion for my profession. I moved to London, where I started working with some of the most famous professionals in the sports betting arena.
In your opinion, what does it take to be a successful entrepreneur?
Passion, focus, and dedication are fundamental aspects, but they are not enough. You must know how to surround yourself with great collaborators, regularly train yourself, and be willing to travel.
Having a close-knit family and a long-term shared vision helps you know how to be resilient in difficult times, but for being a successful entrepreneur, you must always have a positive approach.
Knowing how to be creative and how to manage risk can make a difference in the long run.
What time is your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is time management and finding a balance between work commitments, the many trips I make, and the time I want to spend with my family. Spending a lovely time with my family is very important to me.
What was your most unexpected lesson in leading for growth?
It was amazing to see how my children have absorbed our corporate culture and how they are proud of everything we have built in the business. Creating something that future generations can be proud of is truly beautiful.
What significant changes have you seen in betting space since you first got involved?
The rapid development of technologies has completely changed the way this business operates. The markets have expanded dramatically, meaning the current potential of a company is massive. Indeed, the company that manages to attract the best talent is in an enviable position.
It used to be a simple situation of just making money. However, these days, the best chance of succeeding is for those who combine corporate social responsibility with the unprecedented personal and professional growth of their staff.
We must invest in the people and in the business community to which we belong by raising ethical standards as well as economic objectives.
What is the difference between Betadvisor and other betting websites?
We were the first tipster company to offer the possibility to certify tipsters’ results, and we were the first tipsters’ community to be ISO 9001 certified in 2010. Betadvisor has inspired most of the sites working in the Tipsters services in many things. That is nice for us but also gives us a great responsibility.
Betadvisor has been the market leader for almost 10 years. We have more than 1000 predictors from 80 countries in the world and partnerships with over 1000 sites that promote our services. We also have a community of 1.5 million sports fans. We feel our responsibility and ensure that we make contributions not only to the industry but also to society.
Betadvisor, unlike many other sports betting tipsters sites working in a national reference market, wants to prevent gambling addiction, foster safe gaming, and develop a healthy culture of responsible gaming at the global level.
At Betadvisor, we are trying to expand our network of partnerships around the world with Bookmakers and Tipsters who share our values. The excellent results of 2019 and the new negotiations we have to launch our B2B services in China, India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia, Mexico, Japan, and Indonesia have us very inspired for 2020.
We are approving a new recruitment plan for managers. Our compensation plan differentiates us a lot because we offer the most attractive bonus system in the industry, especially for marketing and sales positions.
What do you think the future holds for this industry?
The gaming industry has significant challenges in the coming years.
The regulation will become more and more restrictive, and I am sure that soon, many other companies will begin to understand that the creation of a corporate ethical code is at the base of their success.
More and more operators will begin to protect and defend potential problem gamblers with prevention campaigns. Betadvisor will continue to work in collaboration with regulators, media, and industry operators in spreading a healthy gaming culture. We will continue to support through our experienced staff all the journalists and consultants interested in prevention and education in the gaming world.
Any passion is beautiful if it lived with balance and tranquillity.
