The leadership team at Lonch wants investors to know that their social media platform takes the digital age far beyond the mechanics of a tech startup.
“We’re committed to bringing soul back to success,” said Lonch Co-Founder and COO Bobby Nims.
Lonch is a social marketplace where people can earn royalties for sharing trade insight, skills and connections. Lonch provides a digital office space that allows global contributors to connect and collaborate; and this creates a merit-based, collaborative ecosystem that fosters innovation and reduces barriers to entry for new businesses.
Lonch’s flagship feature is its crowd investment platform, which allows anyone to contribute skills to create and launch innovative products with little-to-no upfront costs. Lonch provides infrastructure and tools that reduce risk and uncertainty for entrepreneurs, so they can focus on product creation, development and delivering that product to market.
“Lonch enables users to deliver value where it is most impactful,” Bobby said. “Lonch is also a place where you can work on that which you’re most passionate about—and enjoy complete freedom over your work-life balance.”
Driving all this disruption is a guy who wants to change the world.
“I want to disrupt the power imbalance and give disenfranchised people with great ideas an opportunity, regardless of where they are from or what their passions are,” said Lonch Founder and CEO Christopher Gulliver. “In this way, Lonch is a paradigm shift changing how we work; how we perceive work; and the concept of ownership and risk.
“We want everyone to have real value and real ownership of what they contribute. Based on their skills and talents, we want people to live a more fulfilling life while being compensated for their time in perpetuity. We offer guidance and support as our end users build investment portfolios that illustrate their legacy of investment—in their own lives.”
Lonch leverages web 3.0 technologies to build upon a more traditional (web 2.5) solution. The platform employs blockchain and smart contracts to tokenize individual user contributions in the form of project-specific royalty tokens. These tokens represent royalties to be paid to the token bearer. Royalty tokens can be sold directly to users and exchanged in a token marketplace.
Stepping back for a moment and speaking to the big picture, Lonch leverages the very community it built to bring products to market.
“We’re able to scale in ways that no other company can,” Bobby said. “This is the secret to our success, and is why no other competitor can catch us—let alone compete.”
Lonch offers a range of solutions, with an emphasis on:
- Reducing barriers to creating new products.
- Providing access to a skilled labor pool; standardized accountability platform; and royalty payment based on the verifiable contributions made by each individual.
- Breaking out of the traditional business and startup mold. Lonch makes no money until a product generates revenue.
With its virtual platform, Lonch also addresses flaws in the startup funding model that are driven by:
- Accessibility. Most startup infrastructure, like incubators and accelerators, are based in geographical locations that include metropolitan areas and Silicon Valley. Neither are easily accessible to all.
- Start-Up Capital. Companies need money to cover upfront expenses but often become burdened with debt; or must sell ownership of their vision.
- Lopsided Risk Reward. Corporations and businesses assume almost all the risk. Employees or contractors assume very little risk but gain stability.
- Lock-In. Roles, responsibilities, and compensation (especially) are evaluated but seldomly changed.
And then, there is of course Chris and Bobby’s mission to bring the soul back to success. Representing one benchmark, the two men a year from now sees Lonch expanding exponentially as a place for innovation, a safe harbor for dreams big and small—horses and zebras, not just unicorns.
“Lonch is a platform that is driven by a desire to create social impact,” Bobby said. “It aims to be a great equalizer of wealth, allowing anyone to turn their experience and sweat equity into money and a better work-life balance. Lonch is a place of innovation for all—non-toxic by design.”
