McKinzie J. Scott, a Jamaican-American actor, singer, and model, is making waves in the entertainment industry. Born in Harlem, New York, McKinzie J. Scott has always harbored a deep passion for acting and music. At just 18 years old, he is already recognized for his wide range of emotions and his determination to succeed. We had the pleasure of sitting down with McKinzie J. Scott to discuss his journey, inspirations, and advice for aspiring artists.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in acting and music at such a young age?
Since I was young, I always wanted to be an actor, and singing just came to me over the years. I grew up loving Michael Jackson, wanting to be just like him. I remember being 10, sitting there watching Disney, thinking, “I can do that.” So, I always had the passion to be something in this industry—it’s my key goal.
2. Can you share a bit about your journey from Harlem, New York, to becoming a rising star in the entertainment industry?
There are a lot of good and bad experiences. Being in New York has its advantages; there are so many ways of making it, you just have to find them. But there are also a lot of people with the same goal, so it’s hard to stand out. I’m working on being the 1%—there’s only one McKinzie J. Scott. I have to force my success to make it.
3. How do you balance your time between acting, singing, and modeling?
I wouldn’t really call it balancing because you always have enough time to do each one. Sometimes, I have to favor one to get where I need to be. I always favor acting, so if I get an acting role and a modeling role at the same time, I’ll always choose acting. Simply because that is my passion.
4. What has been the most challenging role you’ve taken on so far, and how did you overcome those challenges?
The most challenging role I have taken on so far has not come to me yet. Every single role I have been blessed with feels like an embodiment of myself—it felt easy to take on and become that character. I can’t wait to have the story of a challenging role that I have had.

5. Who are your biggest influences and role models in the entertainment industry?
My biggest role models in the entertainment industry right now are Denzel Washington, Damson Idris, and Alton Mason. These are just a few off the top of my head who have made a big impact on who I want to be as an actor.
6. How do you handle the pressures and expectations that come with being an aspiring actor and musician?
A lot of times, I just ignore it. I pretend that it’s not there and that it won’t affect me in the long run, even though there are a lot of pressures and expectations. I have goals that I want to achieve, and to get to them, I have to fake it until I make it.
7. What projects are you currently working on, and what can your fans look forward to in the near future?
There are a lot of projects that I’m currently working on. I can’t say too much, but there will be a lot of new work from me in the future, especially since one of my main goals is to make it as an actor.
8. What advice would you give to other young aspiring actors and musicians who are looking to break into the industry?
Have patience and keep pushing forward no matter what, even if the people around you don’t believe in your “silly” dream.
