Morena Simpson, also known by readers as Charlee Bravo, gave insight into what makes her plots so captivating. She reveals “I keep readers engaged with suspense and by talking about real life situations that I think they can relate to in real life…Things that make humans gossip. I also end my books with the same types of jaw-dropping cliffhangers that leave the reader wanting more”. Readers frequently perceive situations from diverse angles; for instance, while some believed Shae should face legal consequences for interacting with a minor, others recognized his own status as a minor under the law. Charlee Bravo endeavors to incite provocative discussions among her readers by questioning established societal conventions.
Character development plays a huge part in the overall plot progression however Morena shares insights into her unique thought process behind the progression of her book. “The main character Sweeah Evans starts off as a 12-year-old virgin, who is seduced by her sister’s 17 year-old boyfriend in the 1980s fast forward 20 years later, Sweeah is still entangled in the backstabbing sex-capade with her now brother-in-law, Shae Huges.” The journey of the series written by Charlee Bravo follows a pattern of enormous risks. The story entails Sweeah’s physical, mental and emotional development throughout this series not only helps with plot progression but it ensures plot twists.
Another pivotal thing that Charlee Bravo focuses on is the settings she chooses for her characters and story. She mentions “not all settings are the same. Some settings are calm like Sweeah being at home with her family gives this particular character a sense of fun and security but when the entire family goes on a Disney vacation and Shae and Sweeah are left alone in a boathouse with sensual music, sparks fly and temptation takes over”.
Charlee Bravo reveals that the reason her readers get hooked onto her books is due to the way she doesnt give all details away straight away. “This book series is always leaving a trail of breadcrumbs…these hints from chapter to chapter is what keeps the readers flipping the pages”.
Writers oftentimes have certain rituals and regimes they follow when writing their books. Charlee Bravo prefers to pace herself and fully immerse herself in the writing process. She mentions “I maintain an engaging pace by just trusting my own process…I write whenever the thoughts come to mind, no matter where I’m at or what I’m doing, I write down every thought… for me, so far I’ve released my first two books a year apart and my third book seems to be on that same path This is the good thing about self publishing, you don’t have to feel rushed or slowed. Everybody’s process is different.”
