Hi Philipp, can you begin by telling us a bit about yourself and your background?
I am a German online marketer originally coming from the e-commerce industry. I have been placing ads for my clients for 4 years. I am multi Facebook certified & currently manage between 5,000€ – 10,000€ of advertising budgets per day. My very first contact with the business was actually with classic dropshipping from China. It worked for a short time, but the markets for individual products are oversaturated far too quickly. Nevertheless, it was a great way to gain initial experience in the field of e-commerce and advertising.
When did you decide to create SwipeUp Marketing and what was the main inspiration behind developing this business?
My mission is to transfer what I have learned from e-commerce or, more generally performance marketing, to the music industry.
There are many parallels that can be transferred from one area to another. The general approach of a full-funnel setup works the same in marketing music as it does in promoting household items.
The thing is that many musicians still think in classical approaches. However, it’s difficult to be heard as a newcomer without online visibility. It’s like dropshipping – anyone can suddenly do it. Anyone can release music from their home without a label. The only thing needed is digital distribution. The competition is therefore quite big. According to statistics, over 10,000 new songs are uploaded to streaming portals worldwide every week.
Which kind of clients could benefit from your marketing services?
We offer services for all. No matter if you are a newcomer, an established indie artist or the marketing department of a big major label, we can help. It’s not about saying we can do everything better – by any means. It’s about bringing a breath of fresh air to the industry. If everyone does the same thing, the individual gets less attention. What do you include in your digital strategies for labels and artists?
We don’t just buy media campaigns, we develop holistic full-funnel strategies that build on each other campaign by campaign. It starts with the target group analysis. We categorize different listeners into segments and address them diversely. We then evaluate campaigns and optimize the next creatives for future releases.
