Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2020 campaign features a star-studded cast enlisted by the high-end label’s director of womenswear, Nicolas Ghesquière. Inspired by 20th-century pulp novels, the campaign places its muses in book covers from the romance, horror, and sci-fi genre. Each model is fittingly garbed in retro wear.
Ghesquière — who is also the creative director of the French luxury fashion house — chose to debut the collection on Instagram.
Stars and brand ambassadors featured in the campaign include Sophie Turner, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jaden Smith, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Roberts, Deepika Padukone, Alicia Vikander and more. Each of them is in their own mock cover of a pulp fiction book.
A spokesperson for the label spoke about the concept which follows the theme “fashion is a novel.” “These characters from our wardrobe set the scene for our days, our moods, our lives,” they said, according to Teen Vogue. “This meeting of periods, stylistic movements and anachronistic combinations brings to life a rich cast of costumes.”
The collection featured in the campaign range from tailoring to sportswear.
Stars wore their garb likened to high-fashion costumes. All of which evoke boldness in classic ensembles and dynamic silhouettes. An assortment of brightly illustrated backgrounds was incorporated in the shots to give an authentic feel to each mock cover.
Our personal favorite would be the ever-stylish Sophie Turner in an off-white suit with a red turtleneck worn underneath to provide a stark contrast. She also wears a tan overcoat while she holds an intricate walking cane in front of an illustrated mansion. See the stars in their respective covers below:
