Scott Crockett, Everest Business Funding’s CEO, Reveals 5 Tips for Finding Top Talent

Every company needs talent to survive and thrive. The challenge today is that all companies are looking for talent, and most are using the same avenues to post their jobs.

Is this really the best way to attract top talent to your company?

CEO of Everest Business Funding Scott Crockett suggests there are ways that you can effectively find the best talent and have your company stand out from the competition. Here are five detailed tips for building a talent pipeline and finding the right person for the job every time.

5 Tips for Finding Top Talent

Tip #1. Don’t Just Use the Typical Job Boards

Almost all companies today post job openings on some of the most popular job boards online. These include Indeed, Glassdoor, Career Building, Monster, and others. While these sites are great for reaching a large pool of candidates, they don’t help your company stand out to top talent.

A great way to do this is to take advantage of your social media accounts. This tactic is especially effective if you have a solid presence on social media.

When you post job openings on your social media pages, you’ll be allowing candidates to see the “personality” of your company through your other posts. You’ll also be inviting them to connect directly with you.

So, don’t forget to post job openings on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram.

Tip #2. Create a Careers Page

Most companies today have a webpage that describes who they are and what they do. If you want to attract top talent, a great way to do so is to build a careers page on your website.

On the page, you can describe what working for your company is like. Post photos of the work you do, the work environment, and some other fun tidbits. Post quotes from current employees about why they like working for your company.

Top talent will want to assess what it’s like working at your company before they even apply to an open job.

Tip #3. Build a Solid Online Brand

Along the same lines, you should build a solid online brand for your company. Talented individuals look to companies’ online profiles today to get a sense of whether it’s a company they’d want to work for.

Top talent isn’t just looking for a great salary and benefits. They want to work for a company whose values, character and brand they can relate to. Today, you can attract that top talent by building a brand online that represents all the good you do and why you do it.

Tip #4. Always Recruit

This is perhaps the savviest tip business owners should pay attention to. If you want to attract top talent to your business consistently, you should constantly be recruiting.

Don’t only recruit when you have a job opening. It may just be that a talented individual doesn’t need a job at that exact time. If you’re always recruiting for top talent, you’ll be marketing your company to them at all times.

Then, if you find a talented individual you don’t want to miss out on, you can create a job for him or her just to get them on your team.

Tip #5. Change Your Recruiting Approach

Scott Crockett suggests completely changing your approach to recruiting if you want to attract top talent. You can’t simply post a job and hope to attract talented individuals. You need to approach recruiting in the same way you approach sales.

Recruiting is a marketing job, and you need to build a funnel of potential candidates consistently. By approaching recruiting this way, you’ll be finding talent you otherwise never would’ve found.
