Functional memory and concentration is critical for so many facets of life. As we age and get older, our memory and performance starts to decline. Fortunately there are a variety of products such as Russian nootropics to help us maintain peak cognitive performance. We interviewed Mikhail Vorontsov from RUPharma.com to give us all important clinical facts.
Mikhail, can you explain to us what Russian nootropics are?
Nootropics are simply substances used to improve brain function such as memory, creativity or other cognitive function. They can be used as simple dietary supplements. Russia has always been a country where development of these drugs has been a priority. Because the Russian government has been pouring money into the development of these memory drugs, Russian nootropics are the most sophisticated.
What are some of the common nootropics?
Caffeine is actually a nootropic. Because of its presence in coffee and other beverages, it is actually one of the most commonly consumed nootropic or psychoactive substances. Essentially, caffeine blocks the adenosine receptors in your brain, causing you to feel less tired. You increase in alertness and in attention, however this decreases your reaction time. Some of the Russian nootropic products include Semax, Waklert, Bromantane and Mildronate.
Can you briefly tell us about each of these?
Semax works by elevating the level of brain activity in the hippocampus, the part of the brain crucial for short- and long-term memory along with spatial memory related tasks like navigation. Studies have found it to reduce the behavioural effects of chronic stress causing scientists to believe it may have uses in the treatment of depression.
Waklert is a similar drug used to improve alertness and concentration. This drug has been used by workers who require high levels of concentration. It works in a similar way drinking a large caffeinated beverage would but provides an instant noticeable benefit. Waklert is administered just like other prescription medications and consequently, cannot be used in combination with other drugs.
Bromantine helps to boost both physical and mental performance. Sometimes referred to as Ladasten, Bromantane is not addictive or habit forming like other drugs. Once taken, Bromantine boosts the body’s dopamine to strengthen motivation, mood and focus. Seratonin in the brain is increased to create increased feelings of happiness. Tests in mice have even shown an increase in sex drive.
What are the effects of Russian nootropics?
Just as with any other cognitive treatments, nootropics work by artificially changing chemical imbalances in the brain to improve performance. Not all Russian nootropics are available in the United States or other countries due to the stringent medical testing requirements. Drugs go through a long evaluation, approval procedure and market before they even make it to the shelves. Nootropics are safe and good providing you follow proper dosage guidelines. Your unique cognitive circumstances should always be considered before consuming.
How often should you take nootropics?
Nootropics can be taken in the morning or afternoon to boost cognitive performance. In certain scenarios, an additional dose can be taken when mental demands are higher than usual. As a general rule of thumb, it is best to take nootropics about an hour before you need them.
You said earlier that nootropics are a dietary supplement. Are they similar to superfoods?
Nootropics are different to superfoods. However many of the common superfoods like ginseng, or ginkgo have similar properties to nootropics in their ability to enhance brain function. Nootropics work best when taken in combination with a healthy balanced diet.
