Last week, the global gaming community was full of commotion with the introduction of HolyGames. Most of’ them were with excitement and positive comments. Personally, I was also very excited to hear the news and, had the urge to find out more about it.
The gaming industry has been grown rapidly, since the introduction of “Pong.” After Atari and Nintendo, the distribution of Personal Computer has revolutionized the gaming market. And after highspeed internet, online game has become a major global industry. Now, the gaming market size is estimated at 200 billion dollars, and it is rapidly growing.
Unfortunately, the traditional role of gamers has not changed much. Even though the gamers have played the main role in such extraordinary growth, the industry is always focusing on how to open their wallet. Subscriptions, loot boxes, in-app purchases, and such creations are all part of it.
HolyGames states that they want to change this structure once and for good. Jack Park, the Founder, and CEO of HolyGames said “Within 1 billion gamers today, only a handful number of elite gamers makes profit directly from playing the game. I want all gamers to have a chance to make a profit just by playing games.” He states that his motivation to develop HolyGames was whether simple. “I know all gamers have experienced countless yelling from their mom, to stop gaming and go play outside, or criticized by others to get a job. I felt it was very unfair, but I knew that this is because we do not make any profits by playing games. So I wanted to change it.”

HolyGames is currently under development for the early December Opening and now they are moving onto the Beta testing phase to get ready for the official service launch. The company will accept Beta tester applications starting on September 1st. Any game player can participate in the testing on a first come first serve basis until the expected 10,000 tester positions are filled, and a reward is prepared for the top three testers as below:
- 1st Place Scorer: USD 300,000 worth of HLG,
- 2nd Place Scorer: USD 150,000 worth of HLG,
- 3rd Place Scorer: USD 50,000 worth of HLG
