Healthy Living: Eating habits for optimal brain function

If you’re feeling like you’re in a slump lately it might be because of what you eat. Our food intake affects how you function on a day to day basis. Feeling unproductive can be a sign that you need an energy boost especially in the aspect of brain function. Here are realistic eating habits you need to pick to increase productivity, boost your energy and live healthier.

Eat Breakfast
There’s a reason why they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But many working adults tend to skip it due to the morning rush. This will only decrease alertness and productivity. Don’t skip breakfast but do skip on high-carb sugary food. So put the muffin down and eat a bowl of oats and fresh fruit.

DIY Smoothies and Sandwiches
Stopping for fast food or buying from smoothie chains is a lot easier than prepping your own food. But food from these places is carb, sugar, and calorie-laden. Make the time to prepare your own food to get maximum nutrition. Forget about the egg McMuffin and make your own healthy sandwiches and green shakes.

Try Something Different
Pancakes may be a breakfast staple but it might be time to switch it up with something new. Ever heard of a breakfast salad? With just some leafy greens, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and a hard-boiled egg, you’ve got a guilt-free morning meal!

Simplify Your Fridge
You don’t have to go out of your way to stock up on quinoa or chia seeds to stay healthy. Essential foods like eggs, lean meat, leafy greens, fruits, and nuts are all you need. The key is to turn away from processed food and you’re good to go!
