Frugal living: How to thrive on a tight budget

There’s nothing more difficult than figuring out how to live on a very limited budget. Especially now that everything you want to buy is easily accessible through online shopping. It’s hard to look away from discounts, sales, and freebies, but in the end, it takes a huge toll on your wallet. When it comes to a tight budget, you can’t just survive at the end of the month. You have to thrive and here’s how:

Prioritize Bills
Once you cash out your paycheck, the first thing you should do with your salary isn’t to treat yourself. Yes, it’s tempting. Especially when you’ve worked so hard for it. But it would be a terrible mistake to set your bills aside. Make sure to pay off your utilities before moving forward to plan your budget.

Build an Emergency Savings
You never know what might happen and if you spend every cent of your salary then you’re in trouble. Emergencies happen and one day you might be placed in a difficult situation. Make sure you’re ready for it by building an emergency savings fund. That way, you won’t have to stress about abrupt spending in the future.

Practice Delayed Gratification
Impulse purchases can wreak havoc on your budget. Whenever you’re tempted to splurge on luxuries, don’t buy them right away. Even if its on sale! Think hard about whether or not you actually need it. Maybe even wait a certain period of time to mull things over. If a few weeks pass and you still want it, then maybe it’s time to get it.
