Share

On Monday Facebook announced that Adam Mosseri will be taking over as the head of Instagram following the news that the co-founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom have resigned. Mosseri has had a lot of experience working with Instagram as he has been the head of product since the beginning of this year and was also behind the News Feed implementation. According to a spokesperson from Instagram, Mosseri will be the acting head of Instagram as of immediately.

Krieger and Systrom put out a statement regarding them handing over the reins of the company. The statement mentioned that they are thrilled to hand over the company to a product leader who has had a strong design background and has a deep understanding of the Instagram community and its importance.

The co-founder pair put in their resignations last week which was more than 6 years after Facebook had acquired it. According to various reports, their departure was caused from the interference of the direction of the app from the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg.

Mosseri has been with the Facebook Corporation since 2008 where he was first brought on as a product designer. He has served as the design director of Facebook which led to his implementation of the news feed aspect. Mosseri stated that he is excited and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the Instagram team and achieve true greatness with it.
