The eSports industry has grown to a massive 100 million people in Europe alone. The global eSports industry is currently $1.7 billion, and rapidly growing. The pandemic that occured in 2020 onward has led to a massive surge in its popularity, as people are stuck in their homes without much to do. With the rapid rise of eSports as an entertainment outlet, these growth rates are sure to continue climbing and even accelerate. In the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), eSports has become especially popular, with gaming tournaments being commonplace for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Dota 2, as well as for the first-person shooter game Counter-Strike: Global Offense.
Russian playboy and luxury lifestyle influencer Bezlikiy has recently shifted some of his focus away from his glamorous lifestyle to focus on creating a new online reality show that follows the lives of a group of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro gamers who live under the same roof. His idea was sparked due to his interest in eSports, especially of CIS eSports and the game CS:GO. His vision was based on popular live-in shows like MTV’s The Real World and Big Brother. His new reality show would be a bit different, however.
Bezlikiy wants to have the show streaming 24/7 on the popular video streaming site Twitch, which is focused on catering to gamers who like to show off their gameplay. He would also source some of the best CS:GO players in the CIS, who would come together and live in the same house. The home would be featuring the latest hi-tech equipment the would be required to make the show truly immersive into the lives of these pro gamers.
CS:GO was picked for a few major reasons. Today, this game is in the top 10 in the Commonwealth of Independent States as far as the most popular online games played go. It also ranks in the top 170 of all online games worldwide. The popularity of this game on the largest video streaming platform in the world, Twitch, is also massive. Within the past year, there have been over 759 million hours watched of gamers playing CCS:GO on Twitch. Nearly 17 million hours of gameplay have been logged, with 86,000 viewers watching a CS:GO livestream, on average. The official page for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Twitch has over 27 million followers. Almost a million Twitch streamers have been showing off their gameplay, which all demonstrates just how popular this game still is after a decade since its release.
Bezlikiy is anticipating this new online cyber reality show to be a big hit, and it very well may be exactly that. It’s a novel concept that hasn’t been done before in this way. With millions of people around the world looking for something new and different, there are bound to be many tuning into the 24/7 livestream.
